Due to the restrictions placed by the Governor of Virginia and the threat of the spread of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the board of directors of the Rapidan Orchestra has made the decision to cancel the April 2020 concerts in both Culpeper and Orange. The current plan is to reschedule these concerts for sometime later this fall.
We want to thank our supporters for their wonderful support of our music programs. We could not program these concerts without your support.
Our thoughts are prayers are for all who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and we recommend that everyone strictly follow the direction of our local, state and federal governments during this time of crisis.

Concerts will be held Friday April 24 at 7:30 pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Culpeper, Virginia and Saturday April 25 at 7:30 pm at the Music Room in Orange Virginia. The program is as follows:

There will be a reading session on Thursday Dec 5 from 7 pm to 9 pm to read new music planned for the spring of 2020. Regular rehearsals will resume on Thursday Jan 9 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Music Room
The Rapidan Orchestra will be performing a spring concert at 7 pm on April 26, 2019 at Orange Baptist Church in Orange, VA and again at 4 pm on April 27, 2019 at Culpeper Baptist Church in Culpeper, VA. Joining the orchestra will be the Madison Choral Society in the performance of the Haydn “Lord Nelson Mass”. Works to be performed are:

We will be holding a special spring concert at the Music Room, 135 E Main St, Orange VA at 7:30 pm on Saturday April 13, 2019. This concert will feature works by Beethoven including a full performance of the “Emperor” Piano Concerto. Pianist Jun Kanno will be performing with the orchestra.
Our fall concerts will take place on November 30 at 7:30 pm at St Stephen’s Parish Hall, 115 N East Street in Culpeper and on December 1 at 7:30 pm at The Music Room, 135 E Main St in Orange. The concerts will include the following works:

Claude Debussy “Petite Suite”
Beethoven “Symphony No. 7”
Rehearsals for our fall 2018 concert will start on Thursday September 6 from 7-9pm at The Music Room, 135 E. Main St, Orange VA. We are continuing to look for more string players and could also use a second oboe and a bassoon player.
Concerts will be held in Orange, Virginia and Louisa, Virginia. The concert in Orange will be 7:30 pm on Friday, April 13 at “The Music Room”, 135 E Main St, Orange VA. The concert in Louisa will be 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 14 at the Louisa Arts Center, 212 Fredericksburg Avenue, Louisa, Va. The concerts will feature the following works:
Beethovin – “Piano Concerto No 5 ‘Emperor’ “(First Movement Only)
Mendelssohn – “Fingals Cave Overture”
Mussorgsky – “The Night On Bald Mountain”
Respighi – “Ancient Dances and Airs”
Spring Concert Rehearsals will begin with a string sectional on Thursday, January 4 followed by full orchestra rehearsals on Thursday, January 11. We are still looking for new members, especially in the string sections. We also have a need for a bassoon player and trombone player.
